Thinking and Islam

I am told by Islamic scholars that in the Hadith, the prophet Mohammad has something very definite to say about thinking. I have been given several versions:

1. One hour of thinking is better than a year of meditation.

2. One hour of thinking is better than a year of praying.

3. One hour of thinking is better than seventy years of meaningless prayer.

Could someone confirm which version is correct - allowing for translation difficulties.

I would like to see the leaders of the Islamic religion holding a major world conference on 'why thinking matters'. This would totally change the perception of many people about Islam which is a very good religion.
