EDWARD DE BONO'S MESSAGE - 28th August 2000

Excellent Signage

I recently passed through Schipol airport in Amsterdam. Following my comments about the lack of signage at the Hanover Fair, I would like to say that Schipol is possibly the best signed airport in the world. The signs are big and bright yellow. The signs are frequent enough. Anyone who wants to see good signage should visit Schipol. There is no excuse whatever for poor signage. This is particularly so at airports where passengers are anxious and under pressure. Signs should be clear, plentiful and redundant - but never confusing.

In my next message I am going to suggest a new genre of joke: The GR joke. You are challenged to be creative about this and to send in your efforts.

The new book - "The de Bono Code" (Viking UK) is published on August 31st but is already available. You might want to order it from your bookshop ahead of time as the print run is usually smaller than it could be!
