MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 12th May 2003

Punctuation

In my latest book I introduce a new punctuation sign that allows a writer to express a different sort of relationship between entities. It is not cause and effect. It is not association. There is a new functional element. Having a means to express this different relationship allows us to start thinking in a different way.

Just as we are very complacent with our thinking and our thinking and out language so also are we complacent with out punctuation.

If punctuation is not adequate then we are forced to use punctuation that puts matters into a different perspective. Punctuation implies relationships and is not just a pause for breath.
