1st February 1999 has seen Peter de Bono emerging from
'behind the scenes' and launching into more public undertakings. Some of the projects have
been building up over a period of time. Peter de Bono will be reporting on these projects
and their progress from time to time. It has always been his policy not to mention names
of organisations except when this is specific.
The CoRT Programme and the Six Thinking Hats for Schools Programme
This is an ongoing programme and Peter de Bono gives seminars on the benefits of using the
'thinking tools'. He also puts people new to the subject in touch with experienced users
all over the world through the Internet. The materials are published by Cavendish
Information Products Ltd and versions will soon be published in different languages.
On-line courses
Edward de Bono has charged his brother to investigate the feasibility of developing
on-line courses through the internet. This involves the identification of appropriate
systems to deliver and also the drafting of the courses. These will be new courses.
Although there are some 700 accredited trainers there are many parts of the world which
are not served and many organisation which do not fit the present structure for training.
An Infrastructure for Creativity
Peter de Bono has been most contented in his life when working in an environment that was
amenable to creativity and innovation. He has suffered considerable frustration and deep
depression when in an atmosphere where it was deemed 'dangerous to think'. He feels that
it is important that children should be taught to think better, to be creative and develop
their self-esteem but fears that unless there is a fertile environment into which these
children can launch and flourish they will 'wither' and vast potential lost. Peter de Bono
will be giving seminars on this topic to the Open University Creativity Community (10th
February) and the Amercian Creativity Association (29th April).
The Open University seminar went well and now preparation is in hand
for the major presentation at the ACA conference in Akron. (updated 29/3/99)
The Greater Nottingham Business Alliance
This is a unique and wonderful project in which all the organisations in Nottingham have
banded together to regenerate the exceptional environment of the city and its surrounds.
The project was launched on 2nd February by Edward de Bono who appointed Peter de Bono to
follow up. A further meeting is to take place on Thursday 11th February to discuss how the
People's College will undertake the use of the CoRT Thinking Programme within its own
curriculum and provide training for teachers in Nottingham. Discussion will also take
place with regards to the training of a 'task force' to assist organisations in the
implementation of Edward de Bono's work. In its totality this project could affect some
680,000 lives.
This has started well. In march Peter de Bono trained a group of 10
trainers/tutors from the Peoples College in Nottingham in the CoRT Thinking Programme -
CoRT 1 and CoRT 4. This was followed the following week in training in the Six Thinking
Hats for Schools with the same trainers/tutors. The training was successful and enthusiasm
high. In May Peter de Bono will start training teachers from schools in Nottingham and
Derby - all the participants of his previous training have volunteered to assist. The aim
being that they should consolidate their learning and be able to become 'local' mentors.
Peter de Bono has been asked to give a number of seminars to
departments of the Universities in the Nottingham area.(updated 29/3/99)
Assistance to a division of the social services of a State in the USA
It is planned that Edward de Bono will initiate the feasibility of this project in April
while he is in Chicago - some 24,000 people may be involved.
Training of Fund Raisers for a national charity
In a changing world perhaps the old methods are no longer adequate. There is competition
for funds for charities - creativity and innovation are required. The training is been
tailored to requirements. (Feb)
Peter de Bono and the organisers felt this went very well with a number

Training to members of a merchant bank
There is considerable evidence of the benefits from Edward de Bono's techniques in banking
and financial services from around the world. Because the personnel attending this
training are key to the organisation training will take place over four consequetive
afternoons. (Mar)
This training consisted of the DATT programe followed by the Six
Thinking Programme - a pity that more of the Lateral Thinking tools could not have been
included. It was quite a thrilling experience for these project managers who started
immediately in sorting out problems in relation to their work which had been accumulating

Presentation in Edinburgh - March
Perhaps for the first time there was a presentation on Edward de Bono' methodologies,
given by Peter de Bono, and the methodologies developed by Tony Buzan - given by Tony
Buzan himself. There was perfect harmony and it was interesting and rewarding to see how
the two methodologies of Edward de Bono and Tony Buzan complemented and re-inforced each

Public workshops in Edinburgh - May
Peter de Bono will be giving public workshops in Six Thinking Hats, Lateral Thinking and
Serious Creativity in Edinburgh from 19th-21st May. On 18th May Peyter de Bono will join

A Belgian Family has commisssioned Peter de Bono to give two weekend sessions - one in
Oxford and the other in Antwerp - on the CoRT Programme and the Six Thinking Hats for

Training to members of a multi-national company in Spain
The aim of this training, which will take place in June and September, is for new product
development - an ideal goal. While in Spain Peter de Bono hopes to address local teachers
on the benfits of the CoRT Programme. |
