EDWARD DE BONO CREATIVE TEAMTM
Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any appropriate questions to ask about the Edward de Bono Creative TeamTM
they will be answered here.
Q
Why is there a fee for membership of the Team?
A
The main purpose of the fee is an indication of motivation. Edward de Bono only wants motivated
people to join the Team. The fee will also go a small way to defray the costs of administering
the Team - but this is not the main reason by a long way. If a potential member can not genuinely
afford the minimum fee of $10 then Edward de Bono would consider some other indication
of motivation.
Q
Who should join the Team?
A
Anybody who is motivated to attempt to create a better world. There is no restriction on age
or any factor. In the case of persons under 18 years of age it will be necessary for parents or
legal guardians to be involved in the signing of any agreements. Perhaps the website gives the
impression of being rather high powered - this impression can only be gained by people who
have never ventured into the incredibly satisfying realms of creativity. Edward de Bono knows
the names of members of the Team.
Q
Are the names of Team members published?
A
The names of Team members are confidential and will not be divulged without the express
permission of the member. It will be noticed that permission is always asked for when solutions
are tendered. There are circumstances were persons want to remain anonymous in which case, with
confidential agreement with the Team administrators, a pseudonym may be used - this could be
quite important when the conferencing system is installed and private discussion groups can be
set up.
Q
Is there a requirement that members of the Team should make submissions to problems?
A
All members of the Team are encouraged to make submissions but it is certainly not mandatory. Fear
that a submission may not be of the necessary standard should never be considered. In actual fact
when submissions are passed to Edward de Bono, or other person selected by him, for appraisal he does not receive the names of the
persons making the submissions - only a computer generated code. If the submission is not of a
reasonable standard then it will not be published. It is through reading submissions that Edward
de Bono can gauge what 'instruction' the Team may require - it is his intention that all members
will benefit from active participation. However, just to be a member for the sake of being a member
without any intention of making a contribution may result in disqualification from membership in
subsequent years. The Team is not about numbers but about the force of motivated people.
Q
How do sub-teams function?
A
A professional or associate member of the Team may set up a sub-team consisting of people
interested in the mission of the Team but perhaps wishing to be able to discuss problems and
solutions as a small team among themselves before submitting a solution to a problem. The creation
of sub-teams is encouraged and it is expected that when the conferencing system is installed each
sub-team will have its own discussion area.
There are a number of members who are interested in setting up sub-teams and if any person wishes
to join such a sub-team, rather than take the full plunge, they should communicate their intention
and they will be put in touch with such a sub-team leader.
