EDWARD DE BONO'S MESSAGE
31st July 1998

..from all over the world..

Today I gave a seminar to the General Workers Union in Malta. On a percentage basis this union represents more workers than any other union in the world. There is a mood change amongst many unions from the traditional adversarial role to a more constructive role.

Next week about 80 people are travelling to Malta from all over the world for the first international meeting of those who have been certified by APTT to train in my work and of the Edward de Bono Creative Team. They are coming from Australia, Canada, Middle East, Far East, USA, all over Europe, South Africa etc. Some are more active than others. Some are highly effective. At this point in time there is a huge amount of practical experience in the training of thinking using these techniques. There is no doubt that they have powerful effects and are simple and practical to teach. What is always suprising is how long it takes for people in education to see what is happening all around them.

Astonishingly, there are those who still think that thinking cannot be taught directly as a skill. There are even those who believe that creative thinking is a talent rather than a learnable skill.

I wish those who hold these antiquated views were able to be present at the meeting next week. They would see very clearly that thinking is a skill that can be taught and is being taught.

This meeting in Malta is the idea of my brother, Peter, who runs the web site. It has proved far more successful than I would have imagined. I shall enjoy meeting up with so many motivated and able people from all over the world.

I hope to be able to publish highlights from the meeting on this site.
