EDWARD DE BONO'S MESSAGES - 14th February 2000
'new language for thinking'
When I launch my "new language for thinking" later
this year, there will be howls of hysterical outrage. The guardians of culture
are the writers, book reviewers etc. They will be mightily upset that someone is
daring to challenge the competence of language. They are word merchants and
chained to that very limited thinking game.
That I shall be suggesting that "language is the biggest
barrier to human progress" will upset them. And yet anyone who knows
anything about self-organising systems (which they do not) will fully agree with
me and even consider it an obvious thing to point out.
So the progress of society is severely limited by its
word-based guardians. Will that ever change? It is up to those who see this
danger to put more muscle into making that change happen!
