MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 29th January 2001 Inventing a New Card Game... The task I set myself was to invent a card game where there was no element of luck at all. There have been two stages in the development. The final stage is an extremely simple game. There is no element of memory at all. The game is pure 'thinking' stategy. The new game will be described in detail in the near future. The important point is to set a design task. This will be defined by 'values' rather than by concrete terms. Once the task is clear then creative and constructive thinking can work towards that task. Along the way there will be a lot of 'concept challenges'. Evolution may take a smooth path or there may be abrupt changes. That is all part of 'valufacture' which is a term I invented in my book 'Surpetition'. What design tasks are you working on - to exercise your brain if nothing else?
