MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 26th November 2001 World Centre for New Thinking By the time you read this message the meeting at UNESCO in Paris on the setting up of a World Centre for New Thinking will have taken place. The meeting was over-subscribed. The outcome of the meeting will be given on my personal website at www.edwarddebono.com. There is a huge need in the world for new thinking: in politics, in business and in education. Analysis and argument are not enough. New ideas are badly needed. They will not come from representational politics. So where are they going to come from? The purpose of the proposed Centre is to act as a focus for new thinking and also to provide a conduit for new ideas. For this latter purpose a new web-site will be set up in due course. A idea once thought cannot be unthought. It may indeed be ignored or dismissed but its existence can influence thinking on an issue. "You can analyse the past but you have to design the future". The design function is very different from the analysis function.
