MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 14th January 2002

Survival

No one likes to think that survival of an organisation depends on the creativity of that organisation. Creativity is too unreliable. We prefer to look for logical and numerical solutions which are more reliable. It is never, however, a matter of one or the other. Even while the logical methods are being applied there can also be a search for creative options. If none are forthcoming then survival will indeed depend on logical and numerical solutions. Too often we feel we have to choose one approach rather than the other. Usually, it is perfectly possible to choose both approaches. That might mean a bigger investment of time, money and energy. If 'suvival' is the issue then such an investment is worthwhile.
