MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 29th April 2002

Galina Bobrovina

Some very interesting results are reported by Galina Bobrovina in her medical practice in the Tomsk Municipal Children Surgery Hospital No 4 (Siberia).

The Six Hats framework (sometimes used as coloured balloons) and the CoRT framework were used with severely traumatised patients (burns traffic accidents etc.). These children were suffering from fear, anxiety, emotional deprivation, disquiet etc.

The 'perceptual thinking tasks' set out in these simple frameworks seemed to have had a remarkable effect, in some cases curing post traumatic aphasia. Having a simple perceptual task to perform removes confusion and gives confidence that builds upon itself. Gradually the child takes possession of his or her brain again.

The methods had been introduced to Tomsk (in Siberia) by my brother Peter. Further details on individual cases can be obtained from this site.
