Many people are getting increasingly fed up with adversarial politics. It is realised that this is an obsolete model and does not design a constructive way forward. Unfortunately, no one dare tamper with traditional democracy because any alteration seems to lead to chaos or to tyranny. This is an absurd view but like many absurd views it is held rather strongly.
Parties in power are unlikely to want any change in the system. Parties out of power are seen to want to change only to further their own interests. New ideas are also difficult to try out. What if they do not work? What if they lead to something worse?
