MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 30th June 2003

Judgement System

The 'design process' is very different from the 'judgement process'. This is the basic theme of my latest book with the title 'Why so Stupid?' We are educated to operate the judgement system. We analyse situations in order to extract and identify standard situations. We then provide standard answers to these. Argument is but one example of how very inefficient this method is in setting out a way forward. Argument may tell us where we are and where we have been but does not design the values of where we might go. This sounds very simple because it is very simple. The wonder is that so many people find this basic concept so hard to understand.
