MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 10th November 2003

..objective indicator..

If you multiply the number of pizzerias in a city by six hundred you might get the population of the city. This would only apply to developed countries and might be too dependent on the Italian influence. What else might one measure? It could be pharmacies, pubs, beauty salons, supermarkets etc. What might be the best objective indicator of the population, short of actual counting? Maybe shoe shops would be an indication of the relative wealth of a city?
