MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 26th January 2004
Humour and Religion
Why is it that no religion puts an emphasis on 'humour'? Humour is the lubricant of life. Humour is the best antidote to both despair and arrogance. Humour can set 'possibility' frameworks. It is probable that the solemnity of religion sees a danger in humour that might erode that solemnity. I may have touched on this point before because I do not keep a record of all I have written. If so, it bears repetition.
