There was a radar problem at Milano the other day so the plane from Genoa to London had to be diverted to Nice and the passengers taken there by bus. Between Genoa and Nice there are 123 tunnels, some short and some long. Between the tunnels are very elevated viaducts. In all it seems to be a marvellous feat of road building. Where something does seem to be a considerable achievement it is worth noting since so much comment is on the negative and complaining side (like why did Milano not have a back-up radar system).
