MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 14th February 2005

Poverty!

There is a lot of attention at the moment on poverty and the reduction of poverty. In my view the most important thing that can be done is to teach thinking at the most basic level in villages and the countryside (urban as well). Once people can think they are no longer like a cork floating on a stream, pushed this way and that by the currents. They can take charge of their own lives.

The Holst Group in the UK taught thinking for just five hours to unemployed youngsters and showed a five hundred per cent increase in employment.

Thinking is even more important than health because if people can think they will make the right decisions about health.
