MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 28th February 2005 Poverty
Recently there has been much talk about poverty. The most fundamental way to tackle poverty is to teach thinking. This does not mean formal education - which does not teach thinking anyway. It means a few hours of instruction in the thinking methods that have been developed over thirty yeqars and have been shown to have powerful effects.
Learning thinking raises confidence and self-esteem. This is even more basic than health. People who learn to think can make the right choices about health. With thinking people can take charge of their own lives instead of being driven by circumstances alone.
We know it can be done. All that is needed is the will to do it.
