MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 9th May 2005

Recognition

Quite a lot of things are happening this year. The American Creativity Association are giving me a 'Lifetime Achievement Award'. The ASTD (USA) is giving me the title 'Legend'. The new university of Advanced Technology in Azizona are making me Da Vinci Professor of Thinking. Dublin City University are making me visiting professor of innovation. The University of Dundee are giving me an honary doctorate in Law. I believe the University of Valparaiso are also giving me an honarary doctorate.

I mention these things not to boast but to indicate that, at last, 'thinking' and 'creative thinking' are coming to be recognised as learnable skills not as a mysterious talent or the possession of a hign IQ.

There is still a long long way to go.
