MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 23rd July 2005 Da Vinci Professor of Thinking
I was recently made Da Vinci Professor of Thinking at the new University of Advancing Technology in Arizona. This is a good sign that gradually people are coming to realize that thinking is needed skill. Complacency with our traditional judgement based thinking methods is not enough. Our existing thinking habits are excellent just as the rear wheel of a motor car is excellent but not enough. We need to put far more emphasis on creative and design thinking. Judgement and analysis are not enough. The justice system even needs to set up ‘Courts of Design’ to design ways forward for parties in dispute.
