MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 6th March 2006 Why so Stupid - paperback edition
Some years ago the hardback edition of my book 'Why so Stupid?' was published. On April 7th, this year the paperback edition will be published by Blackhall Publishers in Ireland (blackhall@eircom.net). The subtitle is: Why the human race has never really learned to think. Our existing thinking based on information, analysis and judgement is excellent in the same way as the rear left wheel of a motor car is excellent - but not enough.
We have never developed the creative and design aspect of thinking. To be sure, there are individuals who are creative and who can design but such skills have never become a formal part of our intellectual culture. Because we have never understood such skills they have been attributed to individual talent. That no longer needs to be the case. It is now possible to be creative in a formal and systematic way. That is what lateral thinking is all about.
