MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 22nd May 2006 font>A New Renaissance
I feel there is a need for a new Renaissance in thinking. The old Renaissance brought logic, analysis and judgement - often exercised through argument. The new Renaissance will be powered by design instead of judgement and by creativity instead of logical progression. Creativity is, of course, not just being different for the sake of being different. There must always be real value at the end of a successful creative effort. This value should, ideally, be so evident that it is seen by most people.
Is there much movement in this direction? Not really enough. From time to time I hear from major organisations that have made one of my books mandatory reading for their officers. From time to time I hear of schools and education systems that are using my work. I also hear from individuals who have changed their thinking as a result of reading my work. Perhaps things have to happen slowly and gradually. Most of the 'thinking establishment' has not yet realised the logical necessity for creative thinking and how it can become a formal skill not just divine inspirartion.
