The paperback edition of WHY SO STUPID is now available at a paperback price. The book examines how the human race has been happy with thinking software based on analysis and judgement. This has worked very well in science and technology where properties do not change. It has worked less well in human affairs where people do change.
We have never developed creative thinking, perceptual thinking, or design thinking as a formal part of education. To be sure, there are individuals who do this sort of thinking - but they are rare.
At the Renaissance when Greek Thinking came into Europe (from the Arabs in Spain) schools and universities were run by Church people who did not need creative thinking, design thinking or perceptual thinking. All they needed was logic, truth and argument to prove heretics wrong. So that became and has remained the culture of our thinking.
