MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 10th July 2006 Why I prefer radio
Radio is my favourite medium for a number of reasons.
1. You have enough time to explain an idea or a thought. On television you are always being shut up because of time constraints.
2. You explain things in your own voice. With print you have to go through the abilities and prejudices of the interviewer - and then the sub-editor. There is much scope for stupidity and dishonesty.
3. People actually listen to what you say on radio. On television they notice your tie or your shoes but not what you say.
4. Radio presenters seem more professional and realise their task is to make the subject interesting to the listener. TV presenters are ego-maniacs and use the guests to make the presenter look good.
