MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 7th August 2006 font>Council for New Thinking
Democracies are not designed to have new ideas. There are many reasons for this. Any new idea is a risk and also a point of attack. Democracies are not allowed to 'test' ideas because they are supposed to know what they are doing. There is a fundamental contradicition between an idea which is new and current thinking which is not.
For all these reasons I am helping to set up in Serbia a 'Council for New Thinking'. This is a needed addition to democracy. The purpose of the Council will be to collect, generate and test ideas and initiatives.
In time, I believe, all democracies will need to be supplemented by a Council for New Thinking.
