MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 30th October 2006 The direct teaching of thinking in schools
The direct teaching of 'thinking' in schools is spreading rapidly both in the U.K. and around the world. It is hard on parents whose children attend school where this is not happening. They should put pressure on their schools. Maybe, in future, parents who feel very strongly about this may actually sue the school for not teaching thinking to their children. It has been shown that the teaching of thinking directly improves the performance in every other subject by between thirty and one hundred percent. Even more important is the effect on personal life: crime reduction of ninety percent, employment increase of five hundred percent.
