EDWARD DE BONO - FAULTS IN DEMOCRACY

"The outcome of the request for thinkers to point out some faults in democracy is given here.

The response was moderate both in terms of quantity and also in terms of quality. Most of the points made were sound, sensible and well reasoned. There was certainly nothing wrong with them. Many people would be able to come up with the same points. There was not much that went beyond the sound and sensible to point out faults that were not at all obvious until pointed out. It was therefore very difficult to choose between the points in awarding the promised discounts. Those points indicated with an asterisk were of particular interest and will be rewarded.

Later in the year I shall come back with the much more difficult task of asking creative thinkers to come up with a practical ways of overcoming the faults.

Meanwhile the next task is to categorise these faults into broad categories (as indicated in this week's message)"
