TOPP is a new Political Party. It may be the first political party designed for the
Internet and introduced on the Internet.
VOTE TOPP!!
There may seem to be too much jargon and gimmicks but just as a tent is given form by
the pegs which hold it up, so perceptual identity is created by symbols and rituals - as
the most successful religions have found out.
T = tired
O = of
P = politics
P = party
or
T = the
O = ordinary
P = people's
P = party
The manifesto of the party is also spelt out:
T = try to think of better ways to make the world a better place.
This emphasises human thinking as the key tool for human progress. How do we think our
way forward?
The try is important because this means an investment of effort. It is this
investment that matters. Your thinking may not change the world but it may change you -
and eventually that may change the world. So try is very important.
O = Operate and Organise
The emphasis is on action and doing. It is not enough to sit back, to contemplate and
to criticise. There is a need for action. Get out and do things - no matter how small.
Organise suggests that you work with others in a co-operative way. Organised energy is
very powerful. Disorganised energy may get you nowhere.
P = Positive, Progressive and Practical
The base book of the new party might be "Handbook for the Positive
Revolution" published by Penguin. This is about chnage through positive action.
Progressive means moving forward. It is not enough just to have a positive attitude and
to be complacent. Progression means change for the better.
Practical is important. Small steps that are do-able are more valuable than Utopian
perfection which bvecomes an excuse for inaction.
P = Pride in People, Persistence in Performance
Respect for people is important. There is a need to seek to understand "the logic
bubble" of everyone. A logic bubble is that bubble of perceptions, values and
structure, within which everyone acts intelligently.
The one thing that all successful people have in common is 'persistence'. They keep
going and regard set-backs as minor inconveniences. If you keep going you will get there.

One possible type of initial structure is a group of four:
T = the Thinker
O = the Operator
P = the Player
P = the Provider
This does not mean a separation of functions but responsibilities. The 'provider' looks
after logistics, funds, support. The 'player' looks after the fun side. Things are meant
to be enjoyed. Each person is involved in all activities.
